I just realized yesterday that there are no photos on this whole entire blog of my husband and I.  Most of you know what we look like, but for those of you who don’t, I promise we don’t look like ogres.  Okay, maybe we do in the morning, but we’re not that bad!
 
You know one of the real downers about being a photographer?  You never have pictures of yourself!  Because, of course, you’re always the one behind the camera instead of in front of it.  I think I can count on one half of my hand how many decent pictures my husband and I have of the two of us since our wedding photos were taken 4 years ago!  Sure, we have had some candid photos taken during family gatherings and holidays and such, but there are not even very many of those since I’m usually the one taking all the photos.

I have wanted to have a little photo shoot with just Michael and I for the longest time but I kept running into two large-ish problems.

1. Hubby isn’t too keen on having his picture taken.
2. I’m the photographer, I’m also supposed to be in the photo, and I haven’t quite perfected the ablility to be in two places at once.

We have tried using the self-timer on the camera before but do you realize how many times you have to run back and forth to set the timer, then run into the photo before the shutter goes of, go back and check the photo, recompose the shot, set the timer again, and Michael would you please smile with your teeth this time?  This takes an eternity and further fuels my hubby’s dislike for having his picture taken.

But then… then… I found this handy little gadget and my life became so much easier.  No more running back and forth.  Yes, I still have to go check the photos every now and then, but I can take 200 shots before checking them if I wanted to!  What a novelty!  So, for our anniversary this year I asked Michael if we could have a photo shoot together.  You know, like with the two of us.

He said yes.

And apparently every gnat within a 3 mile radius said yes too.  And I don’t think they read the memo that said the photo shoot was for only Michael and I.

Anyway, we managed to get a few decent pictures and we’ll definitely be doing this again because self portraits have taken on a whole new light for hubby now that they involve a remote control.

So for those of you who don’t know what we look like and may need some reassurance that we don’t in fact look like ogres…
