One year ago today I started this little blog and officially launched Wenzel Photography. My husband, Michael, and I had little idea what running our own business would entail, but we jumped in with both feet and haven’t looked back since. In my very first post I wrote that “I really have no idea what I’m doing, but I’m stepping out there anyway and we’ll just have to see what God will do with my feeble and shaking attempts at starting a photography business.” Well, my attempts have been very feeble and very shaky to say the least, but despite that, God has blessed Wenzel Photography beyond our expectations. Word has traveled faster than we anticipated(a good thing!) and we have even waded into wedding photography; which is an area of photography I once claimed I wouldn’t touch with a 50 foot pole! It’s been a crazy ride, a learning and growing process, and hey, it’s been a lot of fun to boot!
As a side note, I would like to mention that while I may do most of the photography work (since photography is more my passion than it is Michael’s), I definitely think that my husband has had the harder job in the partnership and I know I never could have made it through the last twelve months without him. He’s my biggest supporter, my sanity while shooting a hectic wedding, my sounding board for all manner of off-the-wall ideas, and when the photo editing workload starts to pile up he’s the one who makes sure that we have clean laundry, a clean house, and plenty of food to eat (i.e. pizza) so that I can lose myself in editing for hours (or days!) at a time and not have to worry about our home going to pot. I love that guy. And I’m pretty sure that he’s grossly underpaid.
Anyway, all that was to say that Wenzel Photography has had a great first year. And a very large reason for that is because of you, blog readers. For some reason you keep coming back, even when there is nothing new to see around here for weeks. And what’s more, you’ve spread the word about our little photography business! Thank you advertising for us. Thank you for being our fans on Facebook. Thank you for reading, and commenting, and encouraging me to keep shooting. Y’all are the best!
This is, hands down, my favorite photo from the shoot. I. Love. It.
